Like you I've run heavy 10's before with great results so i know they can hit hard. I actually did 2 solo x 10 on 2 zx2500.1's which put my explorer in the 150's. This will be my first setup where I am considering a 15. One of my thoughts with the 10's is I can only give them about 1000k each so I cant go with something crazy powerful or it will **** up half the power just trying to get it to move. The smaller box is pretty nice though. Wish I could do the 18... I only have about 5 cu ft to work with. 4 + port and displacement. To do an 18 right you need about 6 cu ft for most subs I have seen. Thanks, your right it is easier. Everything from wiring to building the box and cheaper etc. I have given that some consideration. 10's also have some advantages like using a smaller box. A 15 is best around 4 cu ft where the 10 work great in 1.5 cu ft but more planning in the box. Why do you like the smaller woofer? Motor shouldn't be a problem. Either way I end up I'm buying a sub that is rated close to my rms from the amp and all of these brands underrate their subs. 10's would cost more but I'm ok with that. Not to bad, is that just the 1 10 or a pair of them?
