how tall wqould the box have to be so that the sub fits perfectly. like i mean i want to keep the box height as small as possible, without the edge of the sub sticking out of the top or anyhthing

I'm not sure on the exact mounting depth, but you want to be sure to leave a few inches behind the sub to let it breathe. To give you an idea, the mounting depth on the SX is right around 8", so you'd need 10+ height from the front baffle to the bottom of the box for that driver...I think the xxx is a little taller though.

I thought you were talking about height with the sub facing up, sorry....I was speaking of depth in your situation.

As far as the minimum height, you need to be able to screw the sub in some where. Ask g30ffr3y on here about the box he just built, I believe he's screwing into the top and bottom baffles which would be the very minimum height that you could use.

You may want to find the exact diameter of the sub, I know a lot of drivers are actually 15.5" or so from outer edge to outer edge.

oh and is 3.3 cubic ft ported too little for a xxx15 (that doesnt include port and driver, so prolly like 2.6 or so after those)

and wat happens if i put it in a box too small for the driver?

i have a 15" but its 20 degrees out right now so im not gonna go measure, and yes thats too small
