I know this is a long post for some. . please bare with me just some background history on these subs . . . I recently had a buddy who was killed in an auto accident. I came home one day, and there was a plastic bin with a note on it from his father saying he was removing his sons belongings, and since i helped his son with all his audio stuff, he wanted to give me all the things he found in the garage. among them was 2 12" RE SE's. I have never seen them and im honestly not sure where my buddy got them from. After a quick inspection, I noticed several things wrong with the subs. #1 at one point the tinsel leads were broken and somebody tried to perform some make-shift ghetto fix on them. It looks like the took a spade terminal and soldered it onto the speaker terminals then re-soldered the tinsel lead onto that. #2 the speaker wires currently attached to the subs are burned. You can see the discoloration all along the wire #3 although no coil rub and they ohm out o.k. on my meter, i can see they took some abuse because the surround is torn half way through around the whole speaker. #4 the cone and spider was separated and again, they seem to have tried to repair it using what looks more like a silicone based compound rather then an epoxy. So. . . with that said. I would like to recone them, and build an enclosure to give back to my friends younger brother later this year. He is getting a car on his birthday in December, and i thought it would be nice to give him a gift that belonged to his brother. my question is, being that they are (what i believe is 07 or 08 model SE's) does Fi sell a recone kit for these? And if so, what kit am i looking for? Or if there is anyone on here that can recone these, could you please get in touch with me and let me know what options i can get and how much it will run me? Thanks in advance for the help. . . here are some pics of one of the subs, they are pretty much both in the same condition
