12" Diamond D6 on a JL 500/1?

It is definately ENOUGH power and a great amp to boot... how much can you get it for?
they are willing to negotiate. we were well below $400 when I left yesterday. I know they can be had for less on ebay, etc but I prefer to by from an authorized dealer with a warranty.

your getting short changed and underpowered to own a JL amp.........

First off its too small, will it work ? sure

it will work but those subs are underrated and call for 800 watts normally.

400.00 for a 500 watt amp pfffft

JL,if you so choose but Ill tell ya you can buy amps for 100 or so less with twice the power and or more.

Personally I would buy an eD 9.1 with a 3 year online warrenty and run it with the gains down a bit and have room for growth.

Thank you. You've got an excellent point. I decided earlier that the 500/1 was no longer an option.

Do you feel that something with 600W would not be sufficient?

get a D5 amp on ebay, I think they made an 800 or 900 watt //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I know you want warranty but it it saves you $300 on a $500 amp, so I think it might be worth the risk. I got my D5 1200.1 for $200 on ebay.

x2 I would suggest going for somewhere in the range of 700-800. I have 2 ran off a D61000.1 (so 500 watts a piece), they aren't being pushed as much as I want. If you have the money try goin for more power. Good luck.

I would buy an eD 9.1 the thing is cheap, has a real 3 year warrenty and

has its own cooling fan (unlike the diamond amps) I beat the **** out of my 9.1 for over a year so far and no issues

sorry for using your thread, but i was wondering how would a D6 sub sound with a D3600.1 . i know these subs can handle 1000 watts, but i dont want that much power. would the D6 with 600watt hit a lot harder than a D3?

CFaber -

I have an M6mkII12D4 which is the exact same driver as you have but an older model number.

I used to drive mine with 600w from an eXcelon KAC-X401M (600w @ 2 Ohms).

It sounded pretty freggin' good to me...

Then, with an eye on future expandibility, I bought a Diamond D61500.1 from excelerater. That amp is rated for 750w @ 2 Ohms but outputs somewhere beyond that. After getting an infusion of a bit more power the ole M6 really livened up.

So take it from someone who has the same sub as you (same VC configuration even) and went from feeding it between 500 and 600w to feeding it 750w+. No, not a huge difference in wattage but certainly a marked difference in output.

Will that 500w+ JL amp make that D6 work?

Yes.

And likely get pretty decent output from it to be quite honest.

The bottom line for that driver, though, is that it both wants and can easily take more juice if you want it to give you its all. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The D6 will work great off of 600w. My M6 sounded really good off of that level of power. It doesn't have to have 1,000w to give you more than satisfactory output. 600w will get it wangin' pretty hard for a driver that isn't designed with SPL in mind.

But!

It will get even louder off of a bit more. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
