Also, this should not be the criteria for choosing speakers.

    Speaker Question

More channels = greater tuning flexibility. For instance you could wire a set of components with 4 channels, 1 for tweeter and 1 for midbass each side. This lets you adjust the output of the tweets independently of the midbass. Audiophiles will want this level of control, but the vast...

list some midbass drivers you know of

I'm not familiar with the model designation you gave, but hd-6 = hd-62s - tweeter. I assume you either find your current setup lacking midbass, or you have a preference for stronger midbass than most. I think any quality speaker narrowed to your range would do just as well as one 'desgined'...

list some midbass drivers you know of

Why not match and go with the HD-6 midbass drivers?

    focal, mb's, or cdt

You can find them online for ~$620. They're running a special - trade in your old speakers and get a ES for $500. They've also got the es200z crossover on special for $100. I wish I could tell you the difference between the es200's over the lesser satnet-560's but I haven't heard the satnets.

    CDT set up

I'd save a little money and use the CL-6x's instead of the CL-61's in the rear. Unless you had your heart set on comps... I would want to temper the higher frequencies coming from the rear.

    focal, mb's, or cdt

I crossshopped those 3 brands when upgrading my comps, though they were 6.5's, not 4's. To my ear, the MB Q's were flat with a natural sound. Focal Utopias were a little brighter with more character. The CDT Eurosports seemed to have a smoother, richer, fuller sound, which is more pleasing to...

    High End Subs (non mainstream)

I take it you've bought several then? How do you like them relative to others you've owned?

    High End Subs (non mainstream)

Interesting that one would recommend a sub that is marketed as a lower line...I actually chose my w3's over w6's because I like their 'sloppiness' with most of the music I play. Thanks, cdj, for the links. I contacted the USA distributor for Ground Zero, but he's been a little slow to get back...

    High End Subs (non mainstream)

I''ve been scouring the internet to find info on two particular subs, but I come up pretty dry. I'm looking for Phase Linear's Aliante SI, well known for extremely high quality SQ, but the company seems to have disappeared from the map! If anyone's had experience with these, it would take very...

    5.1 Surround Sound (center speaker)

Thanks for the input. The suggested speakers a little limiting though. I'm not sure what the power ratio for fronts/rears/center should be, but I'd like the luxury of speakers that could handle a little more oomph, so I can find out. Since the center is really a 'fill' like the rears, there's...

    5.1 Surround Sound (center speaker)

I'm hoping to get some advice/guidance from those who have a 5.1 setup in their rig. Specifically, finding a speaker for the center channel. It would be nice to have the front, rears, and center from the same manufacturer for consistancy. Are ther any manufacturers that cater to the 5.1...
