Looking at 'Screens. Help me out, plz.

I just happened across the Alpine iVA-W203. Now at its normal price I wouldnt consider it due to the reviews, but Crutchfield has them for $500. I know Id have to buy the loathed add on Nav unit, but at this price, what do you folks think of it?

Looking at 'Screens. Help me out, plz.

So Im looking at putting a touchscreen in my car and Im having a hard time even finding any that I can play with to see if I like them. Id like Navigation, I really want iPod D/AC bypass and I demand flexibility with the display. The dash lighting in my Bonnie is red, so Im not about to have...

    Lossless audio formats?

CDs are encoded at 1.4mbps. You're using WAV which is uncompressed. FLAC, Apple lossless, etc seem to work just fine. I haven't sat down infront of the reference system and compard side by side, but day to day listening in the car and at work (custom 2 way IEMs) reveal no issues with any...

    Im Just So Picky

While I really value SQ, I just don't think a mobile application is conducive to critical listening to the point where one should go all out on the electronics. Theres plenty more to change on the physical side. That's why the Eclipse isnt a front runner for me. I'm sure it's great and I'd...

    Im Just So Picky

I'm casually perusing the options out there in HU's. Im currently running an Alpine thats a few years old. (Cant recall the model). I mostly listen to lossless files from my iPod and have grown quite acustomed to having about half of my (350gb) music library with me all the time. So, from what...

    Clarion VRX385USB

I'm looking at this as one of my options for a deck. It's currently between this and the Alpine iPod dealy without a CD player. Sorry, I forgot the model number, its the top one, though. I'm just wondering if somone could walk me through its interface. I like wheels and knobs for navigating the...

    Sealed Enclosure/Rear deck Baffle?

I've been trying to think of the most effective, space efficiant design for my sub section. The idea I just had seems to fit the bill, but I wonder if anyone's tried it. What I'd like to do is heavily modify my rear deck, possibly replacing it with MDF (I havent explored the feasability of this...

    +3db's... double power.. ect..

194.09dB, the point at which sustained sound is next to impossible. Thats when the pressure reaches 1 atmosphere, and if a sine wave is to be sustained, there would need to be negative pressures somehow.

I can no longer trust my ears.......

Why does there have to be a question? Haven forbid the guy talk about it. Hit by lighting!!?? Really?

Who thinks the Progressive chick is hot?

Wow, some people are just plain angry in their rejection of the idea of someone being attractive. I do think she's got something about her. I like.

    +3db's... double power.. ect..

You hit a wall when the driver can't go any further. All this talk of SPLs, aren't the comp people getting close to the threshold between a sound and what is technically considered a shockwave? It's 191dB, right?

Subs in Car V.S. Tahoe 2DR

I sold my 2DR tahoe and am now in an 02 Bonnie SSEi. I realize the truck wa probably as good as it gets with making the most of a sub section, but what can I do in the car? I've got two IDQ10's running off a Memphis 1000d fyi. of course theres the obvious quick fix of dropping the...

Anyone who downloads HD Movies off torrent sites

I can't stand trying to get decent quality for free. If it's worth trying to get it in uncompressed HD, I buy it on bluray.

    My Kappas sound AWFUL

Ahhh!! Finished putting the Pro 60s in and what an improvement!! I still want to do the door panel mods and tweeter pods, but for now at least I can listen to some music in the car. They are a touch on the bright side for my tastes, but I knocked it down 2dB@15khz and its much easier to listen to.
