    No Power / No Protect

Well, just last weekend, I had taken my weekly walk up to 'the cage' parking lot at Tech to drive to Knoxville for the next couple of days. To my chagrin, I found my subwoofer unable to perform, and I opened the truck to investigate. I found the amp (Hifonics bx1000d, I think...it wasn't mine)...

    elemental 19ov.2

When's the release date? Add about 6 months to that, if not more. I foresee another steel shortage of something extravagant like that again. Looks pretty nice, though, and it's a good idea to have an effective 18" driver for that price range.

    Am I Being Retarded?

I've heard both. I'm lazy, and I don't want to do a switch, as I am prone to forget turning things off...and keeping the remote on for weeks at a time would not be good. At least the line is fused.

Whats the best way to wire this system?

It doesn't look like that amp is 1 ohm stable, so you'll have to hook it up for a 4 ohm total. http://forums.caraudio.com/vb/showthread.php?t=31984

amp won't turn on = me sad =(

Well, it'd be a whole lot easier to narrow down the problem with a working voltmeter. Maybe the problem with your voltmeter is that you don't have a proper ground for it...it's happened to me many times. Is your amp going into protect?

    Elemental Designs Subs

Boy, I remember the time when everyone LOVED Ben and the 'great' customer service at eD. I also got to witness the whole SIN fiasco, which was a blast when Josh kicked the eD forum, and thus Ben, off. Yeah...that guy is a walking wee-wee pad. About their drivers, they're still not bad. My...

    Am I Being Retarded?

Followup: Well, it turns out that I am, in fact, retahded (note the Boston accent...just cause I feel like it). I wired it to my front middle speakers, and it turns out those two only get the higher frequencies from the equilizer in the stock cd player. Somehow, I can't disable this...

    Am I Being Retarded?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Just making sure I wasn't an idiot before I started running wires.

    Am I Being Retarded?

LOC = Low output converter (aka Hi input/low output converter/connector) They do exactly what they say...turn hi input into a low output (higher resistance) so that speaker power can be converted to rca output. I've only seen them done on back speakers (what little I've seen of them), but I'm...

    Am I Being Retarded?

Right now I'm installing a small sub into my '01 Lincoln LS, and since I didn't want to mess with the head unit or cd changer, I decided to tap into a fuse and use a LOC for the RCA's. Although LOC's are usually assigned to the back speakers, I'm thinking of putting assigned to the front-middle...

    cost of gas

Yea, biodiesel is cool stuff...very efficient. I think a popular name in science or automobiles (I can't remember who...maybe Daimler) predicted that we'd use a peanut-oil based fuel in the future...and his prediction isn't too far off.

Which Brand Of Wiring Is The Best??

Yeah, I've always used Knuconceptz. The Walmart brand isn't bad either. It's worth getting if you're not too particular on anything thicker than 4ga.
