hey- i've got an alpine head unit, the cdm-7874 i believe, in absolutely perfect condition. it has the following: cd player cd changer controls am/fm radio w/ about a gazilion presets alpine bass engine subwoofer controle front and nonfading rear preouts great bass and treble controls...

it's a magnavox audio, but judging from the way the logo looks and the way its packaged and stuff like that, it's obvious that they're not related to the magnavox that makes respectable electronics. i got it over at expo square during one of their super sales

it's a 4ch amp tri mode is for 2 ch amps running this config i dont think that could be the prob. would my suggestion help though?

i've got two 5.25in. alpine coaxials and one crossfire 10" sub. i currently have a pretty crappy flea-market quality amp(50wx4) running the speakers stereo and the sub mono. the entire system cuts out when i turn the volume up really loud after just a few seconds, which makes me think it's not...

would removing the speakers from the amp and then rewiring the amp into the following configuration help any: ch1 ch2 ch3 ch4 bridged stereo bridged stereo bridged mono 4 ohms is this possible and would it allow the sub to play at higher volumes for longer...

thanks for responding. i'm not sure what size the wire is, but you might be on to something with the whole alternator thing. I have a 1990 bronco II, and older car with an old electrical system. that might be the problem. is there any way to tell for sure if that's what's causing it? is...
