    Good soldering tutorial.

Good soldering skills, and a good soldering iron, are worth untold amounts of money (and joy)!!! I picked up a Weller WESD51 soldering station (with digital temperature read out) on sale a few years ago. Best $130 I ever spent. It's good not only for car audio (as I learned last week) but also...

    New install... problems... need advice

LOL and well... lesson learned. I did think about doing it myself. But (as these things usually go, I guess) I was in a bit of a time constrained situation, and spending my whole weekend opening up trim panels and figuring out how to route cables didn't really seem productive, given the rest...

    New install... problems... need advice

Understood, but when professionals bill $80/hour to do an install, I expect a professional, correct and working install. In this case a correct and working install would have included putting the antenna outside the vehicle. Yes, exactly. That is why I pay someone else to do it, who will do it...

    New install... problems... need advice

Because I was under the illusion that if I want it done right & done quickly, it makes sense to pay somebody who does it for a living. Same as if when I need the brakes fixed on my truck. Does that make sense or am I way off base here?

    New install... problems... need advice

So last night, I took off the driver's side door trim panel, and pulled out the head unit, to see if I could troubleshoot the dead speakers. The speakers tested fine with an ohm meter. I beeped out the cables between the door speakers and the head unit. The factory cable going from head unit...

Thanks, Side Show. I opted for the newer and better known Kenwood DPX500BT. I had the unit professionally installed (I have some long drives for work coming up, and I figured I'd save myself a weekend of swear words and frustration). And wouldn't you know it, there are problems... I wrote...

    Jensen JRV210B

LOL Well that's too bad. I'll lurk around for another couple of weeks and see what happens. I'm more interested in great sound quality and features, and less on the "bling" factor. I'm just getting into car audio stuff over the last couple of days, so I'm just learning on which brands are...

    Jensen JRV210B

Any thoughts / experience with this unit? The specs look good, but I am having trouble finding useful reviews of this unit online. Doesn't seem like a very well known unit. What I like: - stock look, non glossy finish - full dot display - USB, aux, satellite ready
