a matched set of speakers typically has a frequency overlap of at least two or three octaves. an overlap of one octave would be harsh to listen to and the sound would transition too much from tweet to woofer.

I just bought a pair of the db6501's myself. My friend has a set in his 4runner, and I think they sound great for the price. Ive always been impressed with his soundstage and the time came to do something about mine.

I was thinking of ordering two more pairs after I return these, but I didnt want to risk the same issues Im not able to tell what voltage exactly, but its turned about 80% up - loud enough that there is no distortion.

My entire setup cost me $375 - kappa components up front, kappa 2 ways in back, boston acoustics 5 channel amp, alpine type r 10", kicker zck44 wiring kit, and box. sub and box cost me $50, wiring $75. the amp is what is going to knock you out of your price range
