Alpine Type-R or Infinity Reference Components?

I have the infinitys and they're really good for the price. I amped them with a jbl P180.2 and I don't get distortion whatsoever. With any components I would recommend that you amp them. If you want bass, you're going to need subs because the infinitys won't give you enough. As for the Alpines...

I like Type R's. Like dbhittin said, I would try a different box, then get a diff amp.

two 10" type-r's or one 10" RE HC?

it's up to you... personally I would stick with the two that you have. but that's just me

    Alpine Type-R subs

you can add a second type r but you will be sending about 100wrms to each sub with a 4ohm load. The subs could use a lot more power than that. I would probably upgrade the amp in your case or just stick to the one sub. if you want the 2 sub setup get an amp that's 1ohm stable and you'll be fine.

    how's this for a guy's first system...

I would go all out and get a good system. You can always swap equipment in and out of cars or you can sell it and buy new stuff. If you ever get your dream car, I'm sure you'll be able to afford a new set of equipment anyways.

Just ordered two RE SE 10....

wow that's a good deal ummm if you want a new set of speakers I recommend a set of components. But for $100 you're choices are limited. I have a set of Infinity Reference 6000cs. Got it for $105. It's decent enough for me. You can spend a little more and get CDTs I think they were on sale the...
