I came up with that conclusion for Rainbow subs after this came back from my search on the forum. Also, I just checked the gain setting tutorial and missed the page where it says “Ignore all of this advice if you are running TC drivers and just crank the gain all the way up”.

I measure output in dBs. He was relating IDMAX to SPL subs. People in SPL competitions use the Termlab or AC as the measuring stick. Did I type that slow enough for you to understand? How do you measure the output of an engine? By which one “feels” faster?

Shouldn’t you be out blowing up more subs? Seriously, you must spend a fortune on recones. If you learn how to properly use the equipment you won’t be causing thermal or mechanical damage to your drivers.

Back on topic please. Is there a tutorial on setting gains, crossover and EQ functions on my Alpine 7998 Deck and Macintosh amp? None of the manuals were included.

Setting gains is “common sense”? So I can walk down any street and ask any random person and they will tell me the proper way to set amplifier gains? And when I say “any street” I mean any street outside of Tennessee as I want to limit the discussion to people with triple digit IQs.
