The only problem with those is I can't listen to them before I buy them.

The brands that I can go and hear are Kicker, Alpine, JL, Rockford, MTX, Diamond, Polk, and a few others that don't amount to much.

I heard em today at a store and I think they sound pretty good. To each their own. Also I'm having a real hard time buying subs that I can't hear first. That makes my selection pretty slim when it comes down to it.

The L7's seem to be priced pretty good. But from what I've read they are mostly for SPL. Maybe I'll look for an Adire or a XXX. I'm having trouble deciding on the size though.

Should I stay with the excelon or would an alpine be a better choice?

Surely someone has an idea if the older excelon head units are really that out of date.
