That's very true. But usually, if the power supply drive circuitry has gone asymmetrical, one side (or both sides ) of the power supply fets will run REAL hot or fry. He didn't mention any overheating. I hope he's reading this.....

The squeal is most likely from one or more of the toroid transformers. Turn the thing on, then push down on each transformer until you found the culprit (s) I let them run and wiggle the culprit Xformer until it stops whining then, RTV it (silicone) to the board.

Hi; I have aquired this HEFTY, unidentified Vortex amp. It looks "Old School" but I don't know for sure. The label on the bottom is faded so bad that I can't read it. It looks like it says 1080 MB. I'm hoping someone on this forum will know what it is. Anyway, here are some pic's on photo...
