Going to update this for anyone in the future, 45w rms from the Sony ax7000 is plenty to power the morel maximo components and they sound amazing compared to stock, even the lows are filled out. Still on stock rears, will probably throw some coaxials in there that can handle the power.

Yea, 1k is all I'm willing to spend right now, ended up with the Sony head unit and a set of morel maximo comps. Still need more deadener for the rear though.

The integras seem like they require a quite bit more power to drive than this head unit can put out. For me though they're a bit spendy, with all the money on a head unit, new dash and sail panels and deadening I have to keep it under $200. I'm already reusing a set of alpine spe's in the back...

It's been particularly frustrating for me the past couple weeks seeing what to expect running a set of components with only 45w since all the replies are get a real amp and feed them twice that. Meanwhile whoever actually runs them at lower power never posts results. I guess I am the off topic...

What did you end up going with and how did it sound? Currently looking at the exact same setup and am worried I won't have enough power for Hertz or morel components.

Im looking for an upgrade over stock in my wrx. I just need enough power to drive maybe a set of dsk165 or similar components up front and probably coaxials or mid-range in the rear. Will I be missing out on features or power with either unit? I do really like the simplicity of the sony not...

Okay thanks, that might be a bit more than I need for this. I'm still not even sure if I can get the .5 cu ft I need for a sealed 8 at this point, too many angles to figure without mocking it up.

Well if I can't a ported enclosure for the DC I'm looking at around 300w rms or anywhere around there really. Basically the most I can fit behind the trim panel in the back.
