    Amp Trouble

I just installed an Alpine MRP-F450 in an '03 4runner with 2 Alpine Type S's. My problem is the amp will not turn on. I measured the voltage from the power wire and I'm only getting 5.5 volts. I'm really stumped on this one. Any suggestions?

    Quick tweeter wiring question

I guess I'll just find the smallest clips I can and use "creative crimping." Thanks for the responses.

    Quick tweeter wiring question

the terminals oon the mounting cup are identical to those of the back of the tweeter. For this installation, the mounting cup is not necessary. I just didn't know that they made spade terminals that small. I thought there was a different way to connect them.

    Quick tweeter wiring question

I don't think those fit on there. I have some that either do not fit the terminal or may be a little too big. Are those pretty much the universal tweeter connectors are are there other options?

The top of the deck makes contact with the plastic on the console which doesn't allow it to swing open.

Head unit won't flip down correctly

I have a 9856 in my 2001 Tacoma that doesn't flip down because of fitting issues. The plastic on the dash is so close to the deck that the little clearance that is necessary for deck to fold does not exist. Has anyone else experienced similar problems? Any solutions besides trimming? Also, I...

    5.1 Surround Sound System Help

Do a search on ebay for 5.1 or surround sound receivers and look for a used one. Denon, Onkyo and Yamaha all make nice receivers that can be had for less than $100 used. Pretty much all of the modern receivers will have enough A/V inputs along with the coaxial input.

    Questions about HT

HT's are great but I'd rather have a very good 2 channel setup than a mediocre 5.1 setup. There seems to be too much emphasis placed on the amount of speakers just like in cars. Regardless of how many channels you have, the majority of sound in 5.1 comes from your front three speakers.

    Questions about HT

I think you'd have to find a retailer near you, online is tough with these.

What do you guys think of this for starting off my HT?

That receiver looks nice, I have a similar one and I love it. Speakers look good too just make sure to listen to as many as you can at a local shop before you purchase (and choose the ones YOU like the most).

    Questions about HT

I second that motion. These look pretty good given the price range. Any decent HT receiver from a reputable manufacturer should power these fine and have a connection for a subwoofer.

    Questions about HT

Without much experience with speaker building or acoustics I'd stick with speakers from a local shop. BTW You don't need towers to get full range sound. That's what the sub is for. I'd get some Paradigm Titans with that budget...
