    16-SRX1.500 on a 12W6v2

Is this a good combination? The amp is rated at 500 rms at 2 ohms which seems perfect for my sub. Anyone have any experience with this amp?

whay to set amp gains at

Sounds amazing now that I properly have my gains set. When I first set everything up I tried to set my gains by ear which wasn't too hard for my front and rear speakers but I ended up turning my sub gain up too high which was causing it to clip at high volumes which in turn was shutting my amp...

you set it using the RMS from the amp channel. And yes you should get a 1Khz tone for your front and rear speakers. A 50hz tone is much too low for them to get accurate ratings and you shouldn't have your speakers playing notes that low anyhow. I set everything from my deck which most let you...

    Amps and clipping question

So can some people set their gains more accurate by ear then using a test tone and a voltmeter? My front and rear speakers were fine when I set them by ear but it was the sub that I didn't set right (twice) the first time I cranked the gain way to high and the second time I actually used a volt...

    Amps and clipping question

Right on. I have a feeling it must have been my gains then. I was starting to get very annoyed with how it kept shutting off at high volumes but now it doesn't do that any more thank goodness. I cant believe how some peoples systems can operate with them setting their gains by ear after my...

    Amps and clipping question

Pretty sure all my electrical was fine. Just got a new Optima yellow top battery (I know ppl on here say they are not that great but for a 900 rms system that should be more then enough) and just got my alternator checked out from auto zone and they said it was working fine. Did the big 3 under...

whay to set amp gains at

you need to get a volt meter and set your gains till they read 14.1 volts. The 50 rms is fine for your 80 rms speakers. This of course is only for your speakers you will need to recalculate the formula again when setting your sub. I just learned how to do all this myself. I too am a complete...

    Amps and clipping question

The reason I'm asking this is because up until now I had not set my gains properly and my amp kept shutting off very briefly to where it would decrease in volume drastically until I turned my volume knob down. ever since I have properly set my gains this problem has stopped. was wondering if...
