    Help with my CD8455

I had problems with my 8445 not ejecting. It was due to the stereo kit blocking the HU's full ejection path. Test and see if the unit will eject while outside of the installation. I ended up having to just removing the trim ring everytime i want to change CDs.

Good Speakers for 17.5w rms 45w max?

You can run comps off the HU just fine. It just won't shine like they would on an amp and you won't be able to crank them crazy loud. Just find something with low wattage requirement (around 60 watts or less) and high sensitivity (over 91db). My Pioneer TS-D1720C comps sound pretty good off my...

6.5s off of HU power- Recommendations?

My Pioneer D-series comps sound good off my Eclipse Hu with only 13 watts. The tweeters were a bit shrill on 0db, so I put it on -3db on the crossover. Sounds pretty sweet now.

Recommend me some 6.5's to be run off my HU?

Polk Audio DB651 $40 at Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000P0PF9G/ You can check out specs here. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_9111_Polk+Audio+db651.html There's probably better options, but getting good sound off of the HU and to be under $40 is kinda tough.

    Decent 6.5 comps

    Aren't the answers almost always the same now? The top listed are usually: 1) PPI 356CS - $140 2) ID CTX65CS - $180 3) Morel Tempo 6 - $250 (Tempo 6x = $220) 4) Hertz HSK-165 - $280 (3 and 4 will be over your budget )

RDS??? Do today's head units have it?

I feel like I have to go back to my stock unit to get RDS as the head units that I want do not have that feature.

Thanks, Dude! I appreciate the help!

Weak link? What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for the quick response! Are you talking about the amp or the speaker crossover? The passive crossover only 1 switchable option (5.25 or 6.5 woofer). Isn't the amp suppose to be set to full range for the fronts? Then, you allow the passive crossover to do its job. I'll give it a shot...

Weak link? What am I doing wrong?

Currently: Old Alpine 9874 HU CDT ES-620 comps (running passive) Alpine PDX 4.150 Set fronts at nominal power on amp. HU volume goes up to 36, but only at 12 on certain songs, there's a farting noise coming from the mids. These speakers are suppose to take 150-200 watts. Are they dead? Am I...

Where to demo hertz or SPX-PRO in SOCAL

Yo Datboiroy, you in Cypress, TX, right? Wish it was Cypress, CA. Then you'd only be 5 mins down the street from me.

Where to demo hertz or SPX-PRO in SOCAL

Not to jump in front of DJ Hangman or anything, MLK would be nice, but I don't wanna spend that much, so HSK is next in line. I think that's what I'm leaning towards after all my researching (over PRS, SPX, rainbow, etc). Funny how you chimed in Datboiroy. After all said and done, I'll probably...

Where to demo hertz or SPX-PRO in SOCAL

Exactly. Soundboard isn't great, but I would think it can give you a subjective comparison between what's good and what's not. Also, listening to speakers in a car doesn't mean that it'll sound exactly that same way in yours. ***sigh***

Where to demo hertz or SPX-PRO in SOCAL

Man, I'm in the exact same boat. I've been reading and researching and I keep swaying all around. One day it's hertz and the next day I go back to PRS or SPX-PRO. Then, it's "oh you need to go active" or "just save money and get the PG RSD's" or "just spend more money and you'll be happy". Man...
