it is not going into protection mode. My amp has a light that turns on when i goes in protection. All the power just goes off.

I got this weird problem. If i turn my amp up to much it will completely turn off and will not turn back on until i unplug it and plug it back in. I am confused why it is doing this. I thought if you had something turned up to high the amp would go into protection mode and not turn itself off...
