    My MB Quart PWD254 subs

If I understand your post right, it sounds like your pushing those subs past Xmax, meaning you pushing them past there capabilities. If thats the case, not much you can do, but lower the volume before you blow them.

    JL 1000/1 Load?

By all means, if you can get the same power from 4 ohms as 0.5 ohms, go with 4 ohms. The closer you can get to 4 ohms, the less heat, the less stress on your amp= the longer the amp will last. Heat is the major killer of amps, the less heat, the longer the amp will last.

    Thought I'de ask Anyways

Theres not a HU on the market that you can blast full volume with clean sound. Buy an amp if you want it louder.

    My DIY Component SET!

I agree, I would go with a minimum of a 4" Mid. Although Im all about building your own components, Never go with a pre built passive crossover, unless its part of a component system, designed for that particular component set up. Building your own passive network, in my opinion, is fun, but a...

    Box plan for Kicker L5

yes, if you saw those plans and your just wondering square versus circle, theres not going to be much if any difference. The only difference might be driver volume and if theres any, it isnt enough to worry about. Go with what you saw. I use BassBox Pro software, if you want more detailed specs...

Does anybody know how old these speakers are? (pics)

There from the '90's, probably 10 years old or so. I owned a set of Boston Acoustics back in '89 and those are newer than what I had.

    to many speakers?

No disrespect, but I dont even know where to start! First off, Im not so sure I agree that vans produce the best sound, in general, that is. Secondly, I would do some research on speaker placement, imaging and staging, etc. before you start installing. I wouldnt advise buying anymore components...

First attempt to design a box.

With just 1 sub and an 18" depth, I would go bandpass.

    building a wall

With the vehicle your installing the wall in, do it outside, by all means. My first 2 walls, (8) 12's in a '68 VW Bug, (4) 15's in a '91 Camaro, both built inside the car. My next wall was (4) 18's in a '92 Astro Van. Built it completely outside, took half the time and the patience. My advice...

    Box plan for Kicker L5

You cant just pick a box size and tuning frequency out of thin air. A 2 cu. ft. box tuned to 32 Hz, might work, I dont know, I can run it through some software if you want me to, but your best bet is to go with the plans in your Kicker manual. Theres plans for a 1.75 cu. ft. box in there.

    Best iPod ready Alpine HU?

Theres a 9835 on E Bay right now, current bid at time of this post $168.

About to start a build. Quick Question....

If your building a sealed box, you dont need to seperate chambers, the only advantage is strength. For ported, I prefer to seperate chambers, but also not necessary. The important thing in building seperate chambers is that there exactly the same. Any difference in volume will cause a different...
