Looking for a second opinion on installing a XM module

The antenna is a Terk TRK-SR2 and after some further research, it looks like it does use the car body as a ground plane. I have found that placing the adhesive side next to a space heater does a great job at making the adhesive sticky again.

Looking for a second opinion on installing a XM module

But given in the instructions it says mount to a metallic surface. Doesn't that imply somewhat that the adhesive that comes with the antenna allows some flow of current so the car's body can act as a voltage ground?

Looking for a second opinion on installing a XM module

Another thing, I bought my antenna used, so whats the best way of replacing or making the adhesive sticky again?

Looking for a second opinion on installing a XM module

Is this a factor relating to how much current a 16-18 AWG wire can carry? I was planning on mounting the XM module in the trunk, so that may be a problem.

Looking for a second opinion on installing a XM module

I'm going to be installing a XM module in my car and I had a question about how to hook up the positive voltage lead. Do I have to hook it up to the battery or can I just go ahead and run it parallel off the +12 Vdc line to the head unit? Thanks everyone. /edit: I ask this because I can't...

Yes. I forgot about the rectifier.

    Capacitors

While the cap will act as a big-*** low pass filter, it will also smooth any imposed voltage ripple caused by the amp(s) pulling too much voltage from the battery. If you look at any discrete voltage regulator in an AC -> DC power supply, the cap is there to give you the DC signal. BTW...

What CD changers can be run by the DEH-P880PRS?

I have a general question about the Pioneer DEH-P880PRS and CD/DVD changers. I was looking through the manual I got from Pioneer's website and it said the deck can control a separate changer along with play DVDs. My question is as follows: Can I control Pioneer's 6-disc in-dash DVD changer...

How do I remove the front door panels on a 2000 Ford Focus?

I have some spare 6x8's that I want to toss into my girlfriend's car. Now before I go and do the install, does anyone know of or have a link to a guide on how to take the front door panels off a Focus?

Is time correction worth-while on mid-to-high end units?

Yeah, I could care less about anyone else in the car. It's being an electrical engineer and my obsessive-compulsive tendencies that bother me of even the *thought* that the sound is out of phase. I had initially figured that if a high-end headunit lacked time correction, the engineers pulled...

Does "Sound Management System" sound familiar?
