cone area and power adding spl question

I got over +11 feet external to play with, its a 1986 626. 16"x38" 32". maybe 9 feet internally once I crunch some numbers. Rear seats fold down, it's a work car. If I have to lose some rear seat area it wont bother me. I'm hoping to squeeze a 2:1 basic 4th in there. I dunno, I'm still looking...

cone area and power adding spl question

Let me back up, I reread what I quoted and I stated my facts wrong... I read that doubling cone is a 3 db increase. And doubling power another 3 db increase. Is it really a 6 db increase doubling both? Is that likely or will it probably be a lower gain like 4-5 db for example?

cone area and power adding spl question

I've read that doubling cone area is good for around 5-6 db gain. And doubling power is good for around 3 db's. How does that work when doubling cone area and power?. is it true that a 7-9 db gain is possible?
