    1000 watt rms

By the way - if your alternator is still stock OEM, it's a 65amp. I looked it up.

    1000 watt rms

Well it's simple ohms law. But I would ask, what sense would it make to go buy the best 50" 1080p Plasma if you were hooking up a VCR to it? The results are the same, and the system is only as strong as the weakest component. It's like a high output turbo charger with a stock fuel system...

Is a Rockford Fosgate P400-4 1 ohm stable?

It is not 1 ohm stable. It's a class a/b hybrid. The BD series are 1 ohm stable. And yes, bridging is mono. If you wired the dual 2 ohm coil in series it would be 4 ohm, then bridge the amp which brings it down to 2 ohm. Don't run the coils in parallel. Even then, four channel hybrids typically...

    Which head unit?

I don't see much of a difference in head units anymore other than pre-amp voltage, THD, and S/N ratio. Most decks **** in those areas now anyways. Even Alpine and Eclipse have been putting out junk lately. Good sounding decks are a thing of the past. The best sounding decks were the old...

1994 civic alternator power and general help

Capacitors don't do anything with flow. Capacitance is the property to resist change in voltage. Essentially a cap is a voltage stabilizer. Think of it as a backup pressure tank to push electrons through the line. The question is - is this a voltage problem or a current (amperage) problem...

1994 civic alternator power and general help

Agreed! 1400 watts is overkill for a Civic. Concentrate on the enclosure and subwoofer. Even 100 watts goes a long ways with a perfect enclosure. Unless your trying to compete and throw major cash at it, you'll have a hard time meeting the electrical demands of 1400 watts. 1400watts /14.4 volts...

Why do people think large cars **** for systems?

I've had a lot of bad experiences with "trunk suffocation" in those cars. It's a weird phenomena regardless of the amount power or moving mass. If you crack the trunk lid the car pounds, shut it and it's gone! There's usually such a seal in the trunk of those cars, I get away with using the...

    1000 watt rms

Another note: Most people think the bigger the better, but realistically its wasting your money. Theoretically, if say you only have 40 amps left over, once again the math tells you 14.4volts x 40amps = 576 watts. 576 watts is the absolute maximum you can get out of any amplifier regardless of...

    1000 watt rms

First trick is to re-ground the battery with the same gauge wire you ran to the amp. Usually dimming lights is a difference of potential problem, say you run 4awg back and are still using the factory 8awg return to the battery. Easily overlooked in the circuit. Also, if you do the math...

    Not getting any sound

Agree. Sounds like a ground issue. Another thing is check for is what I call "wire pubes" on your outputs. If your not using connectors and just stuffing the wire in, little pubes fray out and can short the output, thus putting the amp into protection.
