Actually, on a mustang dyno on my WRX W/ a built motor and GT30R turbo, there was a 8awhp loss with a 2.5" VS 3" pipe. Shit, most of the fastest WRX's and STi's run APS 3.5" turbobacks. There are only a handfull of people that make 2.5" systems for a reason. On a NA motor, you need backpressure...
