Lots of things such as a sticky cable, ie the casing of it causing a drag on the cable itself. Could also be a crapped up spring for the butterfly itself, even some gunk built up in the bore of the throttle body causing the blade to stick.

The only Garrett turbo I've had myself was a GT3071R which is pretty much a different ballpark than an old school T3. All of the Garretts I've messed with on friends' cars have been T3/T4 hybrids of some kind.

hah thats just funny. I've done the DSM thing twice and had some unfortunate luck with a few things but didn't blow a tranny. Had a Galant VR4 with a Shep stage 3 tranny, it held up fine while I had it. Seeing as how there are so many T3/T4 hybrids around, whats the specs on the one you're going...

Besides different motor mounts, you also have to consider different wiring harnesses, fuel system and exhaust routing. Not to mention plumbing for the intercooler and different intake setup.
