I have a 2004 Chevy Blazer. It was broken into last night, so there are $500 in repairs and replacement of stolen goods on top of adding an alarm. That's why I'd like to avoid installation fees if I could. I'm pretty savvy with wiring and dismantling and reassembling my car.

I'm shopping for an alarm and I'm considering doing the install myself. Does anyone know what all is required? How complex compared to an amp/sub install? Please be detailed; don't just say "it's hard" or something like that.

Maybe. I'm doing this partly as a design project. I'm incorporating other elements like frosted and etched glass that will interact with the lighting. If I were just doing flashing lights and just doing it for my own pleasure, it wouldn't be worth the time or money to me.

That's what I was originally thinking (with maybe needing additional resistance), but I was talking to someone who typically knows more about electronics than me and they said I'd run into problems with them always being lit up due to frequencies that the lights would respond to and the subs...

I'm going to be building a sub enclosure and want LEDs to light up with the bass hits. Does anyone know how to wire this from scratch, or if there's a product I could buy to achieve this?
