    Noise problem with new headunit

I had a Kenwood DDX7019 and just bought a Kenwood DNX9140. Everything was fine with the DDX7019 sound-wise but I wanted the GPS feature and the improved interface of the DNX9140. So I installed the the DNX9140, I started it up and it sounded fine. I then started the car engine and turned on the...

I just wanna say one thing about UPS

I would blame that on bad packaging. My second job while in college was working part-time at UPS as a night shift package handler. My job was to load the package off the conveyor belt onto the 18-wheeler trucks destined to another package handling facility. The boxes are stacked on top of each...

    KTFO is a scammer

A trade is pretty open to scammers. I would advise against trading, and only pay for an item via Paypal and only pay to an account that is verified and ship to a confirmed address.

What Is The Difference In D Class

Class AB is up to 78.5% efficient Class D is up to 90% efficient Efficiency means how much of the power put into the amp goes to the speakers as opposed to getting wasted as heat.

    Subs, Speakers, and Cold Weather

In really cold temperatures some rubber compounds on speaker surrounds could get stiff enough to cause damage. I had a PPI amp a while back that I had powering a sub and it ended up forming a short-circuit inside after condensation formed inside on a cold day.

Alpine PDX amp... Need your help/suggestions

Unless the dealer is authorized, Alpine won't do warranty repair on the amp. Alpine asks for a copy of your proof of purchase when you send it in for warranty repair. A missing serial number could mean it's a stolen amp or that the amp was sold by a distributor that doesn't want it to be...

wood experts, please, right this way

Even some of Focal's HT stuff is made in veneered MDF. I have their Electra series speakers (JMLab/Focal) and they are MDF veneered in a black melamine material. So there must be some reason they used MDF in $8,000 speakers.

    Anyone deal with Image Dynamics?

Yeah ID support is pretty good. I never use a drill around my speakers just because of the slipping thing. If you use a square-bit then it's usually safe but with a phillips-head it's a no-no.

I need Help with finding a PPI amp!!!

Never heard of that one, I wish they had a better picture. I did a search on google and they say it weighs 60 pounds, 2088 watts output at 4 ohms bridged. ..and what do you know... there's one on ebay...

    Whats a decent "freeair" sub?

I used a set of two Kicker 8-inch subs a while back in a 1994 Mustang GT. I had them mounted on MDF that was mounted in the opening between the backseat and the trunk. I don't remember the model of the Kicker subs but they had a metal cone. With a 400W amp it was surprisingly loud and had good...

Anyone have a Bluetooth enabled HU and comments?

I have a Kenwood DDX-7019 and the bluetooth works great. They come out with firmware updates for the bluetooth module to support new technology.

    JL 300/2v2 and 500/1v2 or HD600/4

I'm not a fan of Class-D for full-range signals, but Class-D technology is improving so I don't know how JL's new HD series sounds. In my opinion, if you want better sound then go with the 300/2 for the CXS comps and the 500/1 for the IDQ sub. The advantage of the HD would be less strain on the...

Why Companies Going To Old School Approach

I work at as an apprentice at a music studio and most engineers consider the recording gear of the 60's, 70's, and 80's to be "classic" and the best quality and sound. The gear was built meticulously by hand (in England, Germany, or the USA). I think in car audio, the audio gear of the 90's is...

    do i need a batt/alt upgrade?

The alternator in your car is only 80 amps peak, that is pretty low. I would change to a deep cycle battery with more reserve capacity. Also do the big 3 if you haven't yet. You should check what voltage is at your battery when you are running the system and the car is running. Around 14 volts...
