I have no trouble with volume in my pre-outs and I swapped out from an 8-volt Eclipse. All I did was the necessary gain adjustment, and they are still no where near max, or half-way for that matter.

Utilizing the spare tire well and building the appopriate box you could get ~9+ cubes out of the back of a Probe. I got a little over 7 with my box and there is a little room to increase this box. I didn't use the spare tire well. http://www.sounddomain.com/memberpage/315956/4

Disconnect the illumination wire from the harness, no more dimming. As for the pre-outs, mine work perfect. Not sure what to tell you other than check and make sure you have the 'subs on' in the menu and maybe check crossover points on the headunit. If the sound defeat feature is 'on' does...

The adjustments are insane

Yeah, but you'll pay for those features. So you have to buy the h/u and the balanced line converter. And I could have never got the eclipse for the price I got the alpine. Either way, you'll be happy.

I got mine, for a good deal ... just saying even with the lack of dealer's, you can still get a deal if you work it right.

Living in a metro area would help, I just have 1 lonely Alpine dealer.

Don't know what you mean by cheap, but you can pick up a Stinger 200 amp relay off ebay for $50.
