Any clues??

So hooking in a new amp and sub for a 93 toyota paseo and the rca port in the back of the head unit, trying to trouble shoot this problem i bypass it and splice from the back speakers from speaker wire to rcas, the amp and the sub now work, but are much quieter. What is wrong with the rca ports...
