Thinking about installing a system is what got me started wanting to build my own. Now I'm in the information overload zone. I've read you have to install a Cap before the amp to prevent the lights from dimming. There has to be more of reason than that.

Alright; pre-fab, stay sealed. Go with a 4-ch amp, run the fronts off 2, and the sub off 2, let the head unit run the back doors. Looking at alpine for the HU as recommended, and am looking at 1- SSA-DCON for the sub. Not sure if I should got 10" or 12". there's not much price difference...

I listen to mostly stoner rock, like CoC, Down and Kyuss. And on a long ride I'll throw in techno to keep me up. As for volume, as loud as my factory system lets me.

Bumpin' has been very helpful, wone is the person with the MTX suggestion. I might not know much, but I have been told to avoid that brand.

The budget I'm looking at is $800-$1200. I'm not looking to break windows (at this budget, probably not) but I am looking to up the game from my factory system.

I can see how the rears could end up being obsolete, and the money saved from that, and downsizing to a 4-channel would allow for more purchasing power for the sub/ amp. What I'm unsure of, being a first timer, is whats going to happen to the treble?
