    KaeZoo, you were absolutely right about the +12V Ignition wire. I investigated that thing my friend was told about the illumination wire needing to be +12V -- it's utter bull. So, thanks for the help I got, but I still know that I wasn't making some simple rookie mistake. Here's what I found...

    Should've been a simple install, but ... head unit trouble

    Maybe it's a blow fuse, but we have two head units that are having this same problem. I did check the fuses before we bought the second unit, they looked okay. Is there any other fuses besides the ones on the head unit here? I'm not trying to be a noob, like I said I got one CD player to work...
