    Engine Noise

Yeah but, (I've got the same prob) What if the hu and amp are solidly grounded to the floor, and the rcas at the hu are connected to ground in the unit. There is going to be a loop (and I can't cut the rca shields either).

    Need Help- amp wiring

It sounds as if the headunit is not providing any control over the amp input. With an open input, an amp could oscillate. Either way, you could try to connect the amp remote connection to the headunit remote power connection as it should be. (Or take it back and have them do it right)

    Wild oscillations and ground loops.

Sony CDX-2180. Fronts to 2-channels of ZX460 then splits. Rear to crossover, then 2-channels bridged then sub.

    Wild oscillations and ground loops.

I cut my shields at my amp input to remove a ground loop that caused alternator whine, but now when I switch on, they go wild and howl. The head unit and amp are directly earthed to the floor pan only a couple of feet from each other. Grounding just one of the four rcas cuts the oscillation...

    Power line filtering

OK, I take it you don't think it's worth the trouble. Thanks for the replies.

    Power line filtering

Yes, the supply line. I'm thinking of noise and voltage drops.

    Remote power connection.

Here's $100 Seriously though, thanks for the help. I think I'll hang around and see if I can maybe help some others with what I know.

Help: No output from crossover ... might be blown

Your midrange components are the coil opposite the terminals, the capacitor next to it and the small ceramic resistor. The track one third down on the right in that last board photo, looks melted away. It looked too thin anyway. You might need to make a wire bridge from the lower right (the...

    Power line filtering

How important is it to filter the power into a headunit? If so, should I use a series inductance, a shunt capacitance, both or something else? and what values?

    Remote power connection.

****ing champion! I need to make up some RCAs of the right length so I'll just connect the shield at the HU end only.

    Bridging zx460

I am after SQ, but don't want to waste available power unnecessarily. I have a zx460 and a sub with 2 x 4 ohm V/Cs. Should I run them as 2 ohms across two channels bridged? or should I run the V/Cs stereo using the 2 channels separately? Or something else?

    Remote power connection.

I put a simple filter onto the remote wire at the amp. I also screwed some heavy ground cable straight onto the floor pan for the headunit and disconnected the old ground, but no difference.

    Remote power connection.

Tried repositioning the remote wire but it doesn't help.

    Remote power connection.

That could be so. AFAIK, my biggest problem is alternator noise.

    Ported Box Question

Yes it would affect the response. Not enough information to say how much but probably a few dB, or enough to make an annoying peak. If you just have to do it that way, your best bet might be to experiment with blocking the port.
