    I would also look at the new SIG P250 (http://www.sigsauer.com/Products/ShowCatalogProductDetails.aspx?categoryid=54&productid=183). If comer with 3 frames (sub compact, compact, and full size) and will allow to change calibers (9, 357sig, 40, and 45).

    I paid about that for my XD 45 compact ($475 plus tax). The glock 19 is nice weapon as well in that same price range, but I would rather carry the 23. I have put over 800 rounds through both the XD and g19 without any problems.

    You should look at the XD (http://www.springfield-armory.com/xd.php), it is a reliable gun. If you are going to carry everyday, the most important thing is reliability. It is a little more than your budget, but it is worth it. I would suggest either the sub compact 40 or the compact 45.
