    What are the Shallow-mount disadvantages?

One more thing. My 92' MR2 turbo which is only a couple if inches longer than a Lotus Elise(and that's the trunk). No one over 6' 4" I think can even fit inside of it and there's still room for a 10" sub with about .65 cu. ft. and mounting depth of about 5 3/4" behind the seats of this tiny 2...

    What are the Shallow-mount disadvantages?

Exactly. only 2" with similar or the same airspace specs with less performance for 2x the price! Why not just get a sub that performs in very small enclosures? It's enclosures that take up space not subs right?

    What are the Shallow-mount disadvantages?

I highlighted the things that were worth mentioning to me and those were the RMS, the single vs. dual voice coils for flexibility(always a good thing), the weight, and the small difference in air space. I compared same company subs(pioneer) as I feel that's closer to apple to apples as they use...

    What are the Shallow-mount disadvantages?

So you get: about an extra .05-.25cu/ft. The loss of a voice coil 100 RMS less Lose deep bass Gain an extra 1lbs. For double the money!!

    What are the Shallow-mount disadvantages?

I understand your point. I agree that it is not apples to apples. Here's what I mean: Conventional Pioneer 10" Sub Shallow-mount 10" Sub * Dual 4 ohms voice coils* Single 4 ohm voice coil * Power Handling: * Power Handling: o Peak: 1000 watts o 1000 watts Peak o 350 watts...

    What are the Shallow-mount disadvantages?

Yeah, though those aren't highly regarded, they probably do hit pretty hard, but probably not as hard as there entry level 8" or 10" and definitely not as hard as the Premier's which aren't very highly touted either all for more money.

    What are the Shallow-mount disadvantages?

Yeah, that's a good point. Under the seats it's a good idea but even in 8" or 10", it seems most entry level subs which are way cheaper will do.

    What are the Shallow-mount disadvantages?

That's what I thought. After doing some research, it seems that shallow mounts have a long way to go. To me, there are too many subs that are only 2 inches longer that are much more capable, using that same amount of air space for a lot cheaper. I guess I'm disappointed in shallow mounts...

    What are the Shallow-mount disadvantages?

My understanding was that the motor(magnet) was built around the voicecoil and integrated into the suspension(sort of). That way it the would maintain close to standard xmax. Some shallow mount are only 2- 3 inches shallower so I maybe some do and other don't??

    4 Ch Amp recommendations?

Well some car audio magazine reviewed an Xtant full range d class amp(put it on the bench too) and THEY say it's on par with some of the best AB class amps. So it's so subjective as much as factual. It seems ICE power technology has made a huge difference

    What are the Shallow-mount disadvantages?

According to the specs I saw, everyone of the shallow-mount had air space ranges of conventional subs. less motor strength and Xmax then conventional subs? Why less xmax?

    What are the Shallow-mount disadvantages?

Mobile one, StereoFX, and unknown minimall caraudio store. The excelons look great and sound pretty good untill the RF P2 came on. Not being bias. In fact the saleman was an SQ guy saying that it would be less noticeable in a car.

    What are the Shallow-mount disadvantages?

I'm considering putting some in my 92' MR2 Turbo

    What are the Shallow-mount disadvantages?

How does the motor design limit xmax? I would think it make for a weaker motor thus less output but less xmax?!

    What are the Shallow-mount disadvantages?

It all cannot be right as there was one discrepancy
