    400$ to spend on router/circular saw/jig saw

A worm drive is actually a different saw/motor setup, like Mr. Carpentry alluded to. They also normally have the blade on the left side of the motor, instead of the right. It's designed differently for different applications, but it's overkill for cutting plywood or mdf to build a speaker box...

    400$ to spend on router/circular saw/jig saw

I'd steer clear of the worm drive for this application. Just get a decent 7 1/4" circular saw with at least 12 amps, and you'll be much happier. They are lighter, less awkward, and easier to use. As for the router, any decent name-brand *plunge* router will do. I think the better ones will...

I meant to type *glue* instead of *paint*. Fixed it.

    Build log for CobaltKicker; 2.5 @ 35hz

Looks great! For future reference, I've always used a couple of terry cloth rags to wipe up excess glue on stain jobs. One wet and one dry. The dry one to get the majority of the goo, then a wet one that will get the residue up as you scrub the joint with it. You can always wash the rags...

What tool to cut circles with ???

I wasn't talking about that comment. I was referring to his post regarding my post. It was completely irrelevant to this discussion. I stated several times that the circles I cut were much larger than a sub cutout, but that it was possible. Seemed relevant to me, but I clearly didn't realize...

I meant that each layer of the ply goes at right angles to the one next to it. Even though your bend is with the grain that you can see, the grain on the next layer down is perpendicular. Were you kerfing through all but the final layer?

    Mossman Cometh

It also makes a huge difference to sand it down before finishing. There are always small scratches even from sliding the wood on the table saw that can't be seen. Sometimes a sanding sealer brings them out prior to final sanding as well. lol, mossman. Is that a water based stain?

What tool to cut circles with ???

I've cut the sides to a launch ramp, and an arched template to hold up masonry while its being built. Also stuff like cutting wavy edged siding with the blade on a bevel. That was all with a standard 7-1/4"blade. Like I said, I don't see it happening on a very tight radius at all...

What tool to cut circles with ???

I dunno what the other guy was talking about, I don't think I'd be able to cut a 15" dia with a circ saw. The circles I was talking about were more like 7' radius. They were never as smooth as with a router or jigsaw, but sometimes you gotta deal with watcha got. And yes, I'm talking about a...

What tool to cut circles with ???

I've used a circ saw (skill saw) to cut circles before. Nothing as tight as a 10" diameter, though. You have to set the blade no more than half way deep for the first pass, then all the way through on the second. The width of the cut ends up being wider than the kerf of your blade, so keep...

    '99 Silverado custom center console/enclosure

Maybe you could cover the front of it with speaker grill cloth? I'm not sure if it would dampen the ports effectiveness? Immacomputer, I wonder if it was the way that the plywood is cross-laminated with reference to the direction of the grain from one layer to the next? Bending WITH the grain...
