    Air velocity?

Thanks for the help. I think I kind of get it now. Mach .15 is roughly 165 ft/s. So, slower than that should be good. I suppose, probably a lot less, if the port is facing you. As with my home theater sub But, I gotta bug you about this one more time. Where do you find the "vent mach" in...

    Air velocity?

Sorry. I didn't realize that was so vague until I read it again. I think I'm looking for a threshold. Here's an example of one that I was playing around with for a home theater sub. I built the box at 2.5 net cubic feet, tuned to 24.5hz. the port is only 2.625"D x 7.75"L. As I expected I...

    Air velocity?

When designing a ported enclosure, is there an acceptable range for the air velocity?

    Sub wiring help.

OK, I already have 2 8 ohm subs wired in parallel. I want to add another 8 ohm sub in parallel. Unfortunately, I can only find the 4 ohm version of the sub that I'm looking for. Is it OK to mix the impedance? Or, Is this a recipe for disaster? If they are all wired in parallel, Will it end up...

Can someone check this for me?

Not bad for a first try. I'm a little off on the net vol. according to the specs it's 0.10 for the pair. (JL 10w0) I must have rounded something wrong. But, 0.040 shouldn't make that big of a difference, Right? Thanks for the input.

Can someone check this for me?

This is my first ported design. It should be 2.75 cu. ft. at 32 hz. If I did the math right. I used the sticky posted here and winisd to come up with the port length. The port is 2.5"x12.5"x27.25" The outside dimensions are 30"x14"x18.5" These are pretty much the max dimensions I have to...

    Box for 2 JL 10w0

Thanks. I really appreciate the help. The only dimensions I'm really worried about are the width and the height. Max W= 30". I might be able to squeeze 31". I just don't want to lose the spare tire. Max H= 16" to 17" would be best.

    Box for 2 JL 10w0

I have 2 JL 10w0-8s in a sealed box at the moment. I've been thinking about trying to build a ported one. I have a ton of questions. Mostly about the volume and tuning frequency. I'm thinking 2.5 to 3 cu.ft. @ 30 to 34 hz. I really don't know what to consider when choosing. For the most part...

    Wattage ratings?

That's what I thought at first. But, It's all over the place. Even in the manual for the Z1000 I just bought. I noticed an asterisk by one of the other amps(Z7000) that said that the 4 ohm rating was 50watts but the USAC rating was 300. It makes sense when i think about it. Call it 50 watts,end...

    Wattage ratings?

Yeah The 4 ohm rating was what i was talking about. The competition thing makes sense. Kind of what I figured. Yup, I'm an idiot. LOL.

    Wattage ratings?

I'm just curious. I was looking at the cadence site after reading a thread. Some of the amps have some odd numbers attached to them. Like this one... http://www.cadencestore.com/ProductCart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=97&idproduct=243 I guess I'm just wondering why?

Tough decision: JL 300/4 or PDX 4.150

Honestly, I'd go with the JL. But, I'm biased. "Brand loyal" I guess.

    Alpine 3523 ?

I found an old alpine amp in my attic. It's a "3523". Does anyone know any of the specs? I can't seem to find any info. The **** thing's just too old.
