the voice coil, in a nutshell, is what you hook the positive and negative wires up to in order to get the sub working, i have never heard free air subs before but i heard they ****, you will get much better sound out of a sub(s) in a box

you have to use a line out converter to install a system to a factory radio because there would be no RCA outputs...the problem sounds like it is either the amp or the line out converter, the sub is fine, but eventually that can damage a sub so u might wanna get it checked out!

ok those subs are bad-***, now if you get more than one amp, you have to get what is called a power distribution box, or something like that...anyway, you have one input for like 0 gauge power wire and like 2,3,4 outputs for up to 4 gauge power wire to each amp...get one for the ground wire...

ok the problem is that you have factory speakers and they arent made to withstand loud volume, at least not for a long period of time, you either need to get new door speakers or mess with the bass/treble settings on your cd player and see if that helps!

ok the JL audio subs are excellent and phoenix gold amps are very good too but you dont need a six channel amp for two subs, your best bet is get a JL audio amp because the w7 is a 1.5 ohm sub and JL audio is the only company i know of that makes an amp stable at 1.5 ohms!
