erm i've got 4volt preouts anyway from headunit i just need to be able to tweak the bass!

Right i've got a MEH9100r with the sub output into a rockford 500a2 thats powering a JL Audio 12 W6v2 at 2 ohms. I want to have more control over the bass so i'm after a base cube. I've seen a few ideas ranging from a calibier base cube (would this downgrade the signal?) which is about £100ish...
