X2....The compressors have a low pressure cut off which won't allow them to turn without refridgerant. No refridgerant-no oil = VERY BAD. If the system isn't charged the comp. won't work. If it does work without a charge something's wrong. It's always the little and obvious things you overlook.

You cannot disable the AVIC-N2. It knows when you're moving. The gyro and GPS system won't allow it. You'd get a message stating the E brake wire is connected improperly becuase you're moving with the brake on.

I have the N2 also and I usually enter my destination before I leave anyways. If it's a destination you use alot then save it and you just have to select it while driving with the DVD in. I don't really see it as a big deal seeing as I don't usually change destinations in the middle of a trip...
