Hi I just got a JL Audio 12w7 and a JL Audio 1000/1 amp and thought I would see how you all would set up the amp!! I have the sub in a ported box (not sure what its tuned to the old owner couldn't remember) in a Ford Ranger extend cab and going for SPL. Lets hear your set-up ideas!!

I just got a Alpine 10 type x from a friend threw a trade. Right now I have it hooked up to my Zapco 6 channel but thats not enough power! I love the Zapco but it dosent have the power to really push the type x. What would be a great amp to push this 10 with ??

Would it be worth sanding down hard edges and rounding out hard corners in the port or ports when I go to build my sub box? Just a though that ran threw my head when I was designing my sub box.

Thats what I thought but the last time I had them hooked up was almost 5 years ago and couldn't remember how I had them ran.

Lol sorry my computer is slow! What about running them bridged but in series that would leave them at 4 ohms.

The amp is 1 ohm stable when running 2 channels. So couldn't I run both channels. Then I would be running 2 ohms to each channel right?

WOW thats some crazy info!! I know enough about car audio to get buy and build what I though was good sounding boxes, but now reading that I might have to rethink that. Its crazy how much there really is to doing a proper car audio build.
