    Gains

Okay, not sure whether this went in amps section or subwoofer section. I have a 2-channel amp hooked up to my sub, but it seems turning up the gains makes the sub quieter and turning down the gains makes it louder... Is that normal? Or is there something wrong with it? Thanks in advance.

    Which wire is which?

Where would I be able to find a head unit wiring diagram for a ford festiva? I'm installing a head unit in my girlfriend's car and there is like 4 extra wires I have no idea what they are. If anyone could direct me to a site or be able to list all the wire colours and what they are it would be...

    Blowing speakers.

If you hook, let's say, a 20watt max speaker to a 300watt max amp, this would blow the speaker right? or would this just damage the amp? or would it do a combinaton of the both? Thanks in advance.

    Opinions needed.

Out of the following head units, which one do you think I best off getting? Alpine CDE-9881 Pioneer DEH-P3950MP Kenwood KDC-MP439 JVC KD-G435 Sorry if this a completely stupid question, I don't know any better. Just ignore this thread if it is.

    Quick question

the wire that goes from the terminal cup to the actual subwoofer, is that 8 guage you use? and is this the same wire you use to connect the amp to the terminal cup? Thanks in advance, HTH

    Wearing in subs.

Okay, so I bought a new Pioneer sub. I've heard that before you listen to the sub very loudly it is needed to be "worn in". The way you "wear in" subs is by slowly turning up the volume until it gets really loud. Is this true? and if so; how slowly should I turn the volume up? Thanks in advance.

    First design.

Oh, and another couple questions; what would I use to connect the wires to out side the box? Do I need some sort of connecter block thing to drill onto my box?

    First design.

That is the design now. I've used 3/4 inch thick MDF as instructions... instruct. Just one question for anyone that knows about this stuff: What sort of and how much sound absorbing material would I use on the insides of this?

    First design.

I did, but forgot to consider the thickness of the MDF.

    First design.

Truth is I really know next to nothing about sub boxes. I just put together a box that had near to the recomended 1.5 cu.ft volume...

    Yeah, it's sealed.
