    box/port placement in a camaro

Car Audio Cabin Gain Transfer Function check out the section on the horn effect and hatchback type cars like camero's . i know that space is quite limited in the back of those (from the picture i'm guessing thats a 4th gen camero) but to get the loudest bass and in effect a free boost in SPL...

    Someone School me on boxes

here this will better explain how each panel comes together edit. it would be a good idea to add a couple vertical braces betweent the top and bottom panels to stiffen them up. the other dims are small enough that they don't really need bracing imo.

    passive radiator

i'm no expert on them but a buddy of mine has built one and is designing another right now 1st one he build is a RE SEx10 with a 12" PR, i haven had a chance to hear it yet but he tells me it hits extremely low for a single 10. he choose the sub due to its high excursion. here is a video of it...

    Someone School me on boxes

the PDF your pointing too is older than the one that i used that clearly says "updated" on it. regardless 2 cubes is way beyond what a ported 10 needs, most 12's don't even need that much air space per sub, they are usually around 1.8-2 max. while if you graph the performance it may look like...

    Someone School me on boxes

just to throw out a design having no idea what this is fitting in this is what is recommended by the mfg optimally everything exact except i swapped the square port to a 4" port to make it easier to build correctly. Box Parts (Optimum Square Prism) 1 Top, 1 Bottom: 12.91 © x 19.97 (b) in...

building your box - do you use speaker terminals?

lol yeah i call bs on that one as well, unless the terminal is made of some crappy materials its not going to add any resistance, your speaker wire is more likely to if its too long or to small for the length etc i will agree with everyone though i don't use terminals on my boxes i build...

    Someone School me on boxes

i wouldn't use anything less than 3/4" MDF unless its a really small box or not for a subwoofer. the large surfaces in a box can and will resonate at the right frequency inside the box and when that happens you loose SPL and quality of the bass in general along with it, if it resonates really...

    Maze port box design

yeah its not at 13.3mm xmax. i got my port area from bass box 6 pro. it was much higher of an area than i would have imagined for a sub of its type all by itself. back in the day i used to run single subs like this one like the cerwin vega vega series 12 with just a 4" PVC pipe from the hardware...

    Maze port box design

i kinda get what your saying but the same square inches is the same thing as as having the same surface area. i think you mean to say that having a bigger dimensional ratio like say 8:1 will have more noise than a smaller ratio like 3:1 or 2:1 dimensionally even though the surface area of the...

    Maze port box design

oh yeah the other problem i see with side firing is that i would have to make the port smaller and thus have more port noise due to the fact that i will loose like 10~ inches of port length

    Maze port box design

i intend to do the round overs and 45's just didnt feel up to modeling it atm. really? idk i kind of think that up firing may be better in my truck as my entire roof is dynomatted to hell due to my previous subs i had that i told you about (reallly bad resonance hehe) the roof of my truck now...
