I had the same question last week. I was told it is for ease of wiring. Both negatives are connected to the same contacts in side as well as the positives. You can wire to either pole and be ok.

I put the orange with the blue. then immediately had power to all amps and everything was right with the world. But now????? Nothing.

didn't have mt multi meter handy..they are coming back this week and ill run a test then. If its bad, ill return it to the shop.

The remote wire that is on the harness doesn't do anything for the factory amp. Nor did it do anything for the sub amp. I had to hook the orange(illumination) wire that was next to it in order to get the amps to power on. The factory harness had two wires going to the factory amp.
