I have a friend who just put some alpine type-r 6x8s in his 03 ranger. They sound good. They weren't too expensive either (he got them from best buy).

Well for one thign the factory HU won't have anything in the alley of sub controls, i'm not even sure if they come with RCA outs on them (i've never looked @ a factory deck besides an extremely old one).

I picked up some legacy subs today...going to plug them into the wall to see what its like

is the amp going into protection? It seems wierd that it would stop like that.

Go to: Tools > Internet Options > Delete temporary files That should fix it.

My friend has a pair and they aren't bad at all..the only thing I would like is more power handling from them.

I drive an 85 impala (full system lowdown here: http://www.sounddomain.com/id/fireantz ) and the back seat doesn't fold down which I'm pretty positive makes me lose a few db. My question to you is how many do you think it lowers me? I've never done a mic but hope to sometime in the spring before...

I'd go with about 33hz, that's what my box is at and it's nice.
