    LOC tap

It's a Jensen from back when they were a decent brand, made in the US. It's 100x2, or 175W bridged. I have all kinds of old stuff laying around that I want to use, including and Infinity Reference 1220 sub . My truck came with the BOSE package, but it has no bass so I just want to add a cheap...

    LOC tap

$500 audio controller is like 15 steps beyond what I need lol. The LC2 looks good but even that is probably overkill to pull a signal from one speaker for a 200W sub. I think the wiser investment would be a better amp that has a gain knob. I was going to try to skate by with an old 1990's amp I...

    LOC tap

I had a general question on line out converters. I have a decent factory setup but want to do a LOC to add an amp and sub in my truck. My question is regarding a clean signal. Wouldn't it be better to tap a speaker signal wire before it goes through the factory amp? I have a bose system so it...

    02 Taurus install

Thats the dash kit alright! I think its tolerable but Im not sure its worth $70 or I would paint it and do some trim work. The main stereo is in the trunk so all I'd have to do is tap the wires with LOC's in the trunk to set it all up versus paying $70 for the dash kit, $20 for the wire harness...

    Good idea?

I hadnt bought them yet but you answered my questions. I wondered if it would kill the lower freuquency range from choking them. Apparently IT DOES! The way my trunk is setup (02 Taurus) the speakers have a nice enclosed area to pull air from so it gives decent low end even with junk paper cones...

    Good idea?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=004&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=140203035832&rd=1 I thought it was a decent idea for people who didnt want to weigh down their doors with 10 pounds of dynamat. I think it has the potential to help a...

    02 Taurus install

Thanks for the info, its what I needed to hear. So I would just run the signal wires to the comps and splice the tweeters into the same line fo the crossover? I wasnt worried about swapping out the HU, it was just buying the big honkin face plate kit and it really makes it kinda ugly. Not to...

    02 Taurus install

My 2002 Taurus stereo is tolerable but I want more clarity. I wont be going with subs because I already have enough bass for my tastes. I need some advice on how to implement the parts I have into my setup. I will be keeping the factory CD deck since its an expensive chore to change the HU. The...

    General audio Q's

Im actually a big mazda fan and have had a couple. I looked for a P5 for a year! Couldnt find one that the dealers didnt want a million dollars for so I gave up looking and just settled for something cheaper. I think Im going to start with speakers since those are going in regardless. If its...

    General audio Q's

Do you have a minivan or what? I have a Ford Taurus and my drum set is pretty big. Its a 7 piece kit with several extra stands and cymbals. Im lucky to fit it into a small SUV, let alone a sedan heh. I never thought about putting 8's in the trunk but that would overpower the front door speakers...

    General audio Q's

I have an 02 Taurus and the factory audio setup is around 4x4 watts. But honestly the stock cones arent horrible compared to many other vehicles Ive owned. I dont hear the higher frequencies or low bass as clear but midrange clarity is fair. I have some kenwood 5x25's and 6x9's that I considered...

    New front door speaker suggestions.

I PM'd ya with some info. As for brands I think you'd be fairly happy with just about anything aftermarket of decent quality. I would avoid Infinity for corps musicc because the highs are REALLY harsh and the cymbal crashes can kill you if you have it cranked up heh. I dont know what your car...

    Buying components and need opinions

Most people on here will argue that the 6.5's need more power but I agree with you. Especially for the tweeters, silk or aluminum shouldnt need more than 40-60watts. I actually have some 3M culk from polyfilling my motor mounts hehe. SO I should be able to use that stuff. And I shouldnt need to...

    Buying components and need opinions

Let me make sure I understand this... your saying that inner metal wall that the speaker mounts to should be dampenned with a set of whatever brand stuff I get. Then use a wooden "ring" and mold it to the oem mounting location so the speaker is pushed closer to the door panel and better aimed to...

    Simple door speaker question

I was thinking about something, I saw the car in the sticky about sound deadening and he had put that eggsheel foam in the outside of the door, wouldnt that absorb moisture and water from really rainy days and cause the doors to rust out from the inside?? But anyway I think what Im going to do...
