Need help/advice with adding a sub to a stock Bose system.

Go ask over on Audiworld... lots of people have done it there and will know specifically whats involved.

    Building Box this weekend

I built mine with just hand-tools, and it had all sorts of crazy angles. It takes a lot more attention to detail, but its doable. Straight cuts are simple -- just tack nail, clamp or screw a guide board to follow along.

whats the dumbest thing you've done during installation

Here's my dumb installation-related mistake: Installing a system using a Diamond Audio 7104 amplifier, which can easily draw 80-100 amps, in a car that had a 35 amp alternator. Even at low volumes, if I drove an hour the battery would be dead and I'd have to push start the car. Now the amp is...

how do you safely discharge a cap?

In my younger and stupider days, I'd do it with a big screwdriver... until I discharged a cap that had been sitting for ten years in a 3-phase power conditioner, and it welded the screwdriver to the terminals and the spark knocked me on my ***. The taking-the-fuse-out method is good if the cap...

Pictures of my first box attempt

Okay, I finally wired it up this morning. I did a lousy job of cutting the hole for the speaker so only seven of the eight screws had wood to bite into. Oops. That means I had a small air leak in the eighth screw hole, that I need to seal up. I don't have amps in my truck, but I crawled back...

Pictures of my first box attempt

Jo-Anne Fabrics. I had taken the pull-out cup holder out of the back seat (the box is such a tight fit, with the cup-holder installed, they won't notch into the sub properly), and I carried it into the store and spent a half hour going through all they vinyl looking for a color/texture match...

Pictures of my first box attempt

I posted a bit about the box I've been working on in another thread today, but wanted to post pictures for people to see. The background: This is a .625 cubic foot sealed enclosure for a 10" Diamond M6mkII subwoofer. Its meant to go in my quad-cab Dodge Dakota, which seems to have what may be...

    Creative Box Ideas...

I'll take some pics and post once its done. I haven't heard it yet, but it should sound great. Sealed volume is sealed volume, for the most part. Its .625 cubic feet, and is stuffed with 1.5lbs of polyfill. The sub needs a .625 minimum, so that plus the polyfill should give it a nice tight...

    Creative Box Ideas...

Although its nothing like some of the stuff people have been posting here, I'm finishing up my first box tonight. It was probably an example of biting off more than I can chew where first boxes are concerned. Its basically a 17w, 12"h, 14"d box where only the left and right sides are actually...
