the battery is in the trunk with the sub and amp, but yes it is smaller than 4 gauge, it does need to bigger but it is only two and a half to three feet long.

the amp gain is low, and it doesn't go into protect mode, the power light stays on and the amp doesn't smell, all my fuses are ok and intact.

i should probably invest in one, i'll be troubleshooting soon on my day off starting with a different sub to isolate the problems, i'm unsure as to whether it could be a channel on the amp shorting out or what, but a multimeter will help.

ha yeah. . . i was going to start with some 2 or 4 gauge wire for the power/ground.

recently i've had my sub cut off after a period of time while in use. i found out that the terminal connection the inside of my speaker box to the outside was faulty so i hardwired my sub to my amp and it worked. but now my sub will only play after i've started my car and if i keep the volume...
