    Correctly setting gains

So just to be sure, the voltage I'll be looking for is 24.5 when the speaker impedance is 4 ohms and the rms rating for my bridged channel is 150 watts?

Yeah I know how you feel. It's a little steep if I won't be using it much at all. Is there any major downside to a DMM? It'll be pretty close for the most part won't it? I want to get as much as possible without damaging anything but if it's only going to be a little bit more with a DD-1 I think...

Maybe i'll consider one then. Would it be better than an oscilloscope? Because i've seen some of those for a bit cheaper.

Thanks, i'll probably just stick with the 0db tones then. would rather play it safe. And the DD-1 looks really nice but how much more would it get than just using a DMM? I really won't be doing this too many times so don't want to spend too much more than I need.

Oh, thought the person posting up a bit said to halve the ohms when running it bridged. I'll use that number then when doing it.

If it is bridged though do the ohms need to be cut in half?

Ah ok. So my amp's manual says that for a 4 ohm load bridged channel the rms is 150 watts. My sub has a 4 ohm Impedance. So to figure out the voltage I want to be output from the amp I need to take the square root of 300 and then double it, correct? I got 34.64 volts, that sound right?

    Correctly setting gains

Thanks, this is all makes sence now lol. The last thing i'm wondering is the RMS i'm looking for. Do Iuse the amps RMS or do I have to do something to it since i'm bridging 2 channels? EDIT: Nevermind, I think I found it looking through the manual and it says the rms for 4 ohms and a bridged...

    Correctly setting gains

Ok, thanks. I tried using the 50hz test tone and raising the gain till I head distortion but i'm not a prop at that so it's a little hard for me to tell exactly what the distortion should start sounding like.

    Correctly setting gains

I've looked through some tutorials but i'm still slightly confused. I want to set up my amp gaisn correctly because when my friend first installed everything for me he did not explain things quite well and only guessed where they should be. I plan to set them with a DMM in a few days but what...

    Amp shutting off repeatedly

So I checked the ground and it turns out the wire was attached to metal that was painted so it was getting no connection, as well as being loose. I sanded it down and reattached it tightly. The protect light no longer goes on and there seems to be no more problems. Is there any possibility...

    Amp shutting off repeatedly

That's correct. The speakers are on 1 and 2 while the sub is on 3 and 4.

    Amp shutting off repeatedly

The protect light means that it could be a ground issue? And any reason is was working for almost a month fine until it did this? Or could it be just luck if it is a ground issue?

    Amp shutting off repeatedly

If the ohm load is too low how could I fix that? Also, I have seen the protect light flash on before when the volume is high up.

    Amp shutting off repeatedly

For my electrical system, unless something was done to my car before I got it which I highly doubt, it is completely how it comes stock. The front gain is very low, only a bit above the bottom while the rear gain is slightly above half. I believe around 1-2. I'll check the ground soon and see...
