its a little to late to stay away from it, -imtjnotu what is a audio pipe 4 channel

i have a boss system in my car, no amp. front are 4" at 225 peak and backs are 6.5" 250, both sets are Boss chaos (2-way) peak the Hu is a Boss 636CA which puts out RMS: 17 watts x 4 channels and as it is now-- sounds like garbage. my question is do i need a AMP and if i do what kind! thanks
