(quick question) What size fuse do I need in this fuse holder?

Actually the fuse in the fuse holder near the battery should be half the current rating of the amplifiers full power current draw. For example if the amplifier made a total of say 600 watts RMS (full power RMS)and it is a normal Class A/B power amp then the current draw should be around 100...

How does an amp "see" the load?

I'll get my speaker "gurus" a shout and see what they think. Cause I'd like to know for sure as I have my belief systems, and I want to make sure I am not nuts Guys at JBL ( small speaker company that kind of knows how to build drivers, and amplifiers) and maybe Vance Dickerson, and Dominic...

On Car Audio.com Forums -How many are Hard core SPL types versus Sound Quality types?

ProjectPechkin, I agree - that would have been probably better. Actually looking for real information. Not what I want, what this formal likes. Thanks for everyone that participated. Helped out a lot.

How does an amp "see" the load?

My bad I should have added a "bibliography", Sorry. Got lazy and it was easier to put what a professor told a student. With small tidbits from me. And yes paralleling inductors lowers inductance, but there is significant copper wire moving thru voice coil gaps. Double actually. BUT...none...

Yall are smart! Battery issue or something else?

When you have the rear battery disconnected, will the car "crank" at all? Not start, just crank?? Read the voltage when you are trying to start the car. What is it then??? If you hook up just the rear battery to the car/starter does it start??? IF voltage is still good, even when starting...

How does an amp "see" the load?

Back electromotive force is a voltage that occurs in electric motors where there is relative motion between the armature of the motor and the external magnetic field. It is a phenomenon that always tends towards the contrary of what happens!! Let´s suppose: if lines of a magnetic field are cut...

How does an amp "see" the load?

2 woofers (4 voice coils). Dual 1 ohm drivers wired in series (to themselves) and then wired in parallel to the amp. So the final load is 1 ohm Each "half" of the amplifier (positive wave form and negative waveform) will see 1/2 the load or 0.5 ohm. BUT...the total load is still 1 ohm. So...

Is my friend lying to me?

What "kills" woofers is voltage and time. And the person turning the knob and not noticing "clipping". Or more accurately ignoring clipping. IF the signal is "unclipped" there will be no issue, as long as you are under the peak power rating of the woofer. And that is assuming that the...

What do you think of these amp guts? Quality or just SO-SO?

Drag Queen. Wow!@ Basically the predecessor(like a dinosaur to a bird) to the BIG Rockford 15Kw amp. Same basic idea, swing modulated signal across some paralleled batteries (in RF's case, LARGE capacitors) across the voice coil of a speaker. Haven't seen one in years, COOL!!

BTW, nice pictures! Some of the best I've seen on any forum

What do you think of these amp guts? Quality or just SO-SO?

Looks OK, not bad. As said before, lacking in DC and AC filtering (aka needs MORE capacitors!) Definitely a Class D amplifier, probably OK for 800 watts 2 ohms. That would be a really good and safe bet. Has really small power connections. But as long as you run BIG wire back to a...

More is ALWAYS better..too a point. Dynamic headroom makes everything sound better. But.....350 watts can start melting things (caps, Coils, PCB) if you a "Balls to the Walls" kind of guy. IF you listen to REAL music (and my guess is you do since you have MKL165's) Under "Dynamic conditions...

    Tuning freq for my 12W7

There is NO perfect box. Nor is there the "optimum" box. Because of the ambient noise floor inherent in most cars -road noise transmitted thru the tires, into the body into the interior (more expensive cars have better sound dampening). IF you drive around in a typical vehicle (lets say a...
